Study, The Lamb

The Lamb // Day Five

April 5, 2019

Finally Friday! What a week it’s been. I’m hoping that you’re enjoying these scripture studies and the discussions with your kiddos. If you’re behind, no worries, you’ve got two extra days to catch up before we continue on. Have a great weekend!

Read: Luke 22:35-46

Notes:

  • Previous ministry work had been easier. Now they will be rejected and without Jesus, it would be harder.
  • “it is enough”….not to mean two swords was enough, Jesus was saying enough of talking like that
  • Jesus didn’t change his routine, even though he knew what was happening. He still went to the Mount of Olives.
  • In this time, the usual prayer posture would have been to stand, but Jesus knelt down. Maybe because of what he was praying.
  • The cup wasn’t just death but all that his death took on. The wrath of hell that we all deserve was given to Jesus instead of us.
  • Luke (a physician) describes Jesus’ sweat as “like blood”. Could the sweat drops have poured and dropped like blood would or was his body in a state that vessels burst and he was actually bleeding while sweating?
  • The disciples were sorrowful but instead of praying they decided to sleep. Now that Jesus wouldn’t be there, he was telling them to pray for their own sake as they’d be tested and he didn’t want them to give in to temptation.

Discuss with Kids :
*Some questions will be repeated so we can learn and build off of each topic.

  • Jesus Storybook Bible // A Dark Night in the Garden. Page 294
  • Activity // Take turns praying if different postures. Standing. Sitting. Kneeling. Discuss what feels different about each one.
  • What does sorrow mean? Sorrow is a feeling of deep distress caused by loss, disappointment, or other misfortune suffered by oneself or others.
