Study, The Lamb

The Lamb // Day Thirteen

April 17, 2019

Read: Luke 23:44-49

Notes:

  • The sixth hour is noon
  • Darkness shares the despair and sadness
  • The ninth hour is 3 pm
  • The veil is what separated man from being with God in the temple. Not all were allowed in this location.
  • The tearing of the veil means that we now have free access to the presence of God
  • The veil is torn from top to bottom to share that no man could have accomplished this.
  • John 19:30 says Jesus said tetelestai which means “paid in full”
  • Jesus saying “into your hands I commit my spirit” shows us that He was in control and He decided to give His life
  • Centurion was a commander of the army who had probably seen many people die and he thought there was something different and remarkable about Jesus’ death

Discuss with Kids :
*Some questions will be repeated so we can learn and build off of each topic.

  • Jesus Storybook Bible // The Sun Stops Shining. Page 302
  • What does tetelestai mean?
  • Discuss the hours. Great chat about when the day started and how Jesus might have told time.
  • Read: The Garden, The Curtain, & The Cross
  • Hold up a piece of paper. Ask your children to tear it, from the top, discuss the significance of this event.
