Last day in Luke is today. I honestly went back and forth between ending it on the last day of the month versus the last day of the week. And even more honestly, I don’t want to drag it out. Let’s wrap Luke up!
Read: Luke 24:36-53
Notes:
- Jesus appears to all the disciples!
- They weren’t jumping for joy at first. Nope, they were scared.
- The disciples didn’t realize that they weren’t just seeing a spirit. So Jesus had them touch him and they still were doubting.
- Luke’s recount of this seems like Jesus was chill. He asked why they doubted…how much can they doubt?? And before he explains himself anymore he asks to eat.
- Then once again he explains it all to them. Kind of like saying “I told you so”
- In verse 49, he gives them instructions because the “promise of my Father” is coming. He’s telling them to stay put because the Holy Spirit will soon be upon them.
- 40 days between resurrection and ascension Acts 1:3
- Jesus leaves earth and enters heaven while blessing the Church
- They returned with great joy because they really believed and when they continued into the temple this shows that they weren’t in hiding
