Sometimes people tell you something and it’s easy to forget. But if you witnessed someone raise a dead person and then heard them say they would themselves rise from the dead, don’t you think you’d remember that? I’m guessing that most people would at least be waiting in skepticism. But Jesus’ followers just were sad and kept thinking about themselves. They were thinking that this was it and the past three years of their lives were for nothing. BUT…..this was all the beginning.
Read: Luke 24:8-12
Notes:
- Then the finally remember what Jesus had said. Lightbulb!
- The women immediately believe so they run to tell the guys
- The men didn’t believe them. In the time period (first century) women would not have been trusted witnesses.
- Peter and John race to the tomb for proof
- John’s story of this is a little comical because he refers to himself as “the one whom Jesus loved”. He likes to say things in his story to remind the reader that he was more loved, younger, and physically fit. See John 20 for yourself!
- Peter was marveling. But he looked and then just went home.
