Do you feel as if you don’t really know what advent actually is? Well let me embarrass myself because for a long time I *thought* I knew what it was but I was not understanding the big picture. I’ve always known that advent was the time before Christmas but up until my adulthood I didn’t get it. The word advent comes from the Latin word adventus which means “coming”. The rituals and celebrating of advent has evolved over the last few thousand years. Today we celebrate Advent as a season leading up to Christmas. It’s four Sundays. And in 2018 the season will be Sunday, December 2 until Monday, December 24. But you will see different people celebrate differently. The point is we’re celebrating the coming of Jesus.
