Homemade Bread // Lacey Cooks

Nothing is better than freshly made homemade bread, right? I've been trying some new recipes and I think I've discovered the best recipe for us. I enjoy making loaves of bread but I got a proofing basket recently and I'm obsessed with making these round loaves. Plus it works well with adding tons of herbs fresh from the garden.  [...]

Easy Homemade Roasted Tomato Sauce

The tomato harvest is going pretty well over here so I've been trying to find different ways to use them. I searched for recipe varieties and I keep canning. My new favorite is this roasted tomato sauce. It's gorgeous and has a lot of variety, but most importantly it is easy!   This is really the easiest way I've ever saved tomatoes. Roasted them in the oven wit[...]

Instant Pot Easy to Peel Boiled Eggs

Have trouble with peeling eggs? Generally it's easier if you get store bought eggs because those are probably 30-45 days old already. Older eggs peel easier. But fresh eggs are another story. I've busted and broken many eggs peeling them because the shell just won't separate from the whites after boiling.  Enter the Instant Pot.  6 minutes (plus the time to[...]

Cinnamon Apples

We've all been there. That moment when your child *needs* an apple. But we both know what's going to happen. Half way eaten apple, left somewhere. So this is my solution. Instead of wasting the half eaten apple, I'll cook it down. Or instead of giving my kids an apple, I'll cook a batch of these cinnamon apples for them to have as a side or a snack. It's super easy, smells[...]

Homemade King Cake

So it's Mardi Gras season in Louisiana and everyone is grabbing their favorite king cakes. BUT....last year I took a chance on this crazy idea and it worked out to be very delicious. When I was sharing on my Insta-Stories the poll revealed that almost everyone wanted the recipe.   [...]

Swedish Bacon Pancake

I remember visiting their home when I was a kid. She had these red and blue glass birds along this window ledge right behind the couch. Other than that, my only memories of my great-grandmother involve visiting her at an assisted-living home. She had suffered a stroke. I don't even know if I really remember visiting or if I can just picture the pictures we have with grandk[...]

Halloween Snacks // Fun With Kids

So Halloween for us is all about the fun. You can see my Halloween Pinterest Board and the October Activities Board for more fun! N wakes up every morning and asks if it's Halloween yet. He knows he will get to ride in his wagon fire truck with his brother. Because when I'm stressed I bake, we made some cupcakes. And a few other snacks. I've seen a lot of these ideas aroun[...]

Joy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Joy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Not something that I thought would be a word I ever used to truly describe life. But this life is a joy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Motherhood // Hard. Exhausting. Hilarious. Edifying. Sanctifying. Frustrating. Loving. Joy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Marriage // Hard. Worth it. Also sanctifying.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Friendships, life, church, ministry, traffic....joy. Because of Christ.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is only because of God that there's breath in my lungs. I will sing of His glory all my days. I will study Him, read His word, know Him, love Him, & live out His commands. Joyfully.
They will grow to love what they see us love. They They will grow to love what they see us love. They will witness more of our actions than listen to our words.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

How important it is for us to teach our children with actions and words instead of just words.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We must have correct orthodoxy but we must have correct orthopraxy. We must live out the gospel.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When our children see us love God in words and action, they will learn more about our faith.

This short season I refuse to be concerned/ashamed of...
-the deficits of melanin in my skin. [I literally cannot be less white. Nor will I be applying tanning creams. Not trying to look like DJT. I’ll be red like a crawfish before long.]
-the freckles
-the fact that my calf muscles are bigger than some women’s thighs
-and anything else

Stewarding this body well is what God commanded.
Water. Moving. Sunscreen. Eating less junk. Better skincare since ya know 30s!

This summer will be the best yet. Because I’m less and less concerned with how the world sees me and more and more concerned with how God sees me.

Justified. Being sanctified. Will one day be glorified!
To God be the Glory.

Discernment and knowledge come in handy here. We can easily spot lies when we know the truth. We see the same word for test, dokimazo, used in Luke 12:56 & Romans 12:2.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
dokimazo: I put to the test, prove, examine
Original Word: δοκιμάζω⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Part of Speech: Verb⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Transliteration: dokimazo⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Phonetic Spelling: (dok-im-ad'-zo)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Definition: to test, by implication to approve
Usage: I put to the test, prove, examine; I distinguish by testing, approve after testing; I am fit

Are you behind on a reading plan you set out to do Are you behind on a reading plan you set out to do this year? I am! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Partially because I’m studying in depth, partially because I like sleep, partially because I skipped a couple days to read something else. And baseball.

So this morning I loaded the washing machine and set a timer. I finished 1 chapter and then decided I needed to move my body.

There’s no checklist needed. No deadline. No trophy for finishing a reading plan.
But nothing helps you see God like His word.
Nothing makes you want to know more about Him, than studying who He is.

If you would have asked me a few years ago if I would turn off the tv to read Leviticus....I would have laughed at you. Now moving into Numbers and I’m eager to learn more and also study Leviticus again.

If you want some accountability studying...join us @solasistersco !!!
