Teaching Them How to Pray

February 15, 2021

We have a little family prayer (you can find the printable HERE). It’s a simple prayer but we’ve been working on building their confidence to pray with others. What better way to teach them how to pray than to look at how Jesus taught his disciples how to pray.

For that, we go to Matthew 6. It’s in the middle of the Sermon on the Mount and he begins to tell them what we refer to as The Lord’s Prayer or Our Father.

The PDF is 10 pages of walking through the prayer with a template for creating your own family prayer. This resource will be in your inbox immediately once you sign up.

It’s free too! Praying it blesses your family.

Well hey y’all. There’s a bunch of new friend Well hey y’all.

There’s a bunch of new friends here. So I’m saying hi.
I’m Lacey. Some friends call me Lace. It used to bother me but I see it as an enduring term now.

Let’s get to know each other.

I’m a nerd 👩🏼‍🏫
I love to garden 👩🏼‍🌾
I’ve got an Ag degree
I’ve picked up golfing with my husband 🏌🏼‍♀️
🌈Genesis is my favorite book of the Bible. And Revelation. 📜
🐯 Geaux Tigers
I danced for 18 years 🩰

I upset people online everyday by sharing scripture, Truth, and my life. Seriously, I’m not here to upset anyone but surprisingly it happens a lot.

♦️ What’s your fav book of the Bible?
♦️ what’s some random fact about yourself?

So glad you’re here. If you’re new...welcome to crazy town.
One of my favorite spots. J built a shelf for me. One of my favorite spots.
J built a shelf for me. He considered that I wanted to put larger books there so I could research while studying.
One day there might be some actual organization to the books but for now it’s what I’m using. Not to mention the stack to the left (the conveniently cropped portion of the desk).

While this image looks great, I would love to remind you that you don’t need all of the books and shelves and things.....you need a new heart. A heart desiring to live a life glorifying God.

What we need is to get rid of our pride and allow the Holy Spirit to sanctify us.
We need to allow the Holy Spirit to use God’s word to change us and renew our minds.
Toxic mommy culture. Toxic wife culture. The mock Toxic mommy culture.
Toxic wife culture.

The mocking isn’t funny. Our husbands aren’t buffoons. Sure we put up with things but guess what?!?!? They put up with us too.

What if Christian women changed the narrative on marriage?
What if we glorified God in deed and word?
What if we took the vow, the covenant of two becoming one seriously?

Husbands are image bearers. We should talk about them as image bearers.
Children are too.

Obviously, we need community to talk and vent and process. But that’s not online. That’s a close friend that will hold you accountable in the situation also.

Make marriage great again.
Good Friday is good because a Good God made a way Good Friday is good because a Good God made a way for some wretched people.

Lord let us never forget what we deserve and the price You paid.

“It is finished.” - John 19:30
Seven years I’ve been a mom. Ma-ma-ma-ma. Mommy Seven years I’ve been a mom.
Ma-ma-ma-ma.
Mommy.
Mama.
Mom.

To think that God entrusted a sweet portion of His creation for me to steward blows my mind daily. Never do I feel qualified.

Seven years and I have a million things I wish people would have told me when I was starting out.

📌 Don’t slack on it because today counts for eternity.
📌 Do it all to His glory.
📌 It’s hard work but it’s holy work.
📌 Basic hygiene is your responsibility not your reward.
📌 Don’t “reward” yourself for what you’ve been called to steward.
📌 Enjoy every second because it’s all bittersweet.
📌 One day, you’ll see fruit. No matter how small, you’ll see some fruits of your labor.
📌 Ignore the world. Read the Word.

The world’s narrative for motherhood is disgusting. Getting out of bed earns you a trophy. We’ve lowered the standards so much that we fear the challenge of raising kids into adults.

I wish that someone would have smacked me with a bible and never ever let me buy into the self focused, toxic motherhood narrative.

You won’t find that here either. I want to be dignified (1 Tim 3:11). It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. All for God’s glory.

Here’s to motherhood. The cheek kisses, the sleepless nights, the bittersweet moments of it all.

Mama, you can do hard things. Because God had called you to do them. Do it all....for His glory!
